Red Rock Canyon, NV

During my week in Vegas, I got online to one of my favorite photography forums and asked of a location that I would be able to go take pictures that was open in the evenings. It was suggested to me to visit Red Rock Canyon. This is a 17-mile round trip drive through absolutely beautiful desert scenery.
Las Vegas Strip at Night
Posted on March 6, 2010
When I originally started learning about photography, I started out like many people taking pictures of nature, architecture and anything else I found of interest. I quickly found after getting over my embarassment of setting up a tripod in the middle of a public street, that I absolutely LOVE night photography! The vivid colors that the lights put out really intrigue me.
I have also been lucky enough to travel to many places as part of my career. Last week, I went to work in Las Vegas for the week; and what better city can you play with lights, than Vegas?? My poor feet worked hard for these pictures. I covered a good portion of the strip; and I plan to go back and get some more on my next trip. Enjoy!
Water Drops

There is something about freezing water in motion that is so fascinating! Everyone has seen these images a hundred times, but it seems every photographer must still try their hand at it. After 207 photos taken and my kitchen covered in water, this is the one image I am really happy with! I will try it again now that I got the basic technique down to see if I can do better.
Geeky photography info: Nikon D300, Sigma 105mm macro, f/9, 1/250. Off-shoe flash, 45° camera right, bouncing off poster board. WB: Tungsten for blue color.
Post processing: Crop, sharpen, enhance vignetting.
Anyway, enjoy!

I got to shoot these ADORABLE little babies! I haven’t met a person yet that could resist the automatic “AWWW” when seeing these pictures. I’m happy to say that they all have homes!

This is my longtime friend, Amy. She wanted to get some new portraits around some barns and other rustic backgrounds. So, I did some research and got permission from the Euless Historical Society to open up the McCormick Barn for us, which ended up being a great background.
